Google Offers Free Book Downloads

” Google has launched a new service, books.google.com, wherein users can download PDF files of classic works of literature for free.” You can read more about this at Google Offers Free Book Downloads.

I prefer to read books in print format myself. I don’t really enjoy reading them in pdf form.

According to “Some publishers, however, see the availability of free books for digital download as the thin end of a very large wedge that could split literature by undermining copyright itself.”

I can definitely see the concern over copyright and royalties that are being expressed by authors and publishers. What are your thoughts?
