During my absence from the blogosphere I spent a lot of time watching movies. Here is a list of 13 movies I have recently watched.
Smilla’s Sense of Snow -“Based on Peter Hoeg’s bestseller, this film is set in snowy Copenhagen where a small boy is found dead after he falls off a roof.”
One Hour Photo – Starring Robin Williams- ” An employee of a one-hour photo lab becomes obsessed with a young suburban family.”
Pearl Harbor– ” Pearl Harbor follows the story of two best friends, Rafe and Danny, and their love lives as they go off to join the war.’ A movie I can watch over and over.
Lost Junction– Starring Billy Burke and Neve Campbell – “A dangerous love affair, a lethal deception”
Little Man– “A wannabe dad (Shawn Wayans) mistakes a vertically challenged criminal on the lam (Marlon Wayans) as his newly adopted son.” – A very funny movie.
Missing in America– “A haunted Vietnam veteran (Danny Glover), living in exile in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, is faced with a life-changing decision after he is visited by a former platoon member (David Strathairn) and his young Amerasian daughter ( Zoe Weizenbaum). ” A very moving movie.
Serving Sara – “A process server (Matthew Perry)
tries to serve an elusive female target (Elizabeth Hurley).”
Pride & Predudice -“The story is based on Jane Austen’s novel about five sisters – Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty and Lydia Bennet – in Georgian England. Their lives are turned upside down when a wealthy young man (Mr. Bingley) and his best friend (Mr. Darcy) arrive in their neighborhood. Written by Marcy Gomez.” Excellent movie!
BraveHeart-“William Wallace, a commoner, unites the 13th Century Scots in their battle to overthrow English rule.” – One of the most powerful movies I have seen.
The River King– “Abel Grey (Edward Burns) is sent to investigate the death of a boy from an exclusive local school, who is found floating in the river.”
Bee Season – Starring Richard Gere, Juliette Binoche, Flora Cross, Max Minghella, and Kate Bosworth. “A wife and mother begins a downward emotional spiral, as her husband avoids their collapsing marriage by immersing himself in his 11 year-old daughter’s quest to become a spelling bee champion.” – Surprisingly, I did not like the movie.
The Night Listener– Robin Williams, Toni Collette, Joe Morton, Bobby Cannavale and Rory Culkin – “In the midst of his crumbling relationship, a radio show host (Robin Williams) begins speaking to his biggest fan, a young boy, via the telephone. But when questions about the boy’s identity come up, the host’s life is thrown into chaos.” – Sigh, another movie that I would not recomend renting.
The Guardian -“A high school swim champion with a troubled past enrolls in the U.S. Coast Guard’s “A” School, where legendary rescue swimmer Ben Randall teaches him some hard lessons about loss, love, and self-sacrifice.” – Great Movie! This is one that I recomend seeing.
