Oh Christmas tree- Oh Upside Down Christmas tree

December 14th, 2009 by Rose DesRochers · 8 Comments

Hanging a Christmas tree hang upside down from your ceiling is a hot Christmas tradition this year, but it’s nothing new.

Apparently, hanging a Christmas Tree upside down is an old European tradition that dates back to the 12th century. “The Fir tree was hung upside down from ceilings in Central Europe as a symbol of Christianity at Christmas time.” (Source: Legends of the First Christmas Trees)

If you ask me I think they look silly.

I’ll just stick to my traditional upright Christmas Tree. (Pictured below)

Yikes! I’ve never heard of this before. I’m with you; much prefer the traditional tree. Your tree looks beautiful.

Rose, I have a neighbor that has an upside down tree. They bought it to keep the dog from tearing it up and their one year old from playing under it. I suppose that works…but…how about the word, “no?” Its very pretty in a weird way. The ornaments hang away from the tree and give it the “odd” appearance. I’m keeping my traditional tree too.

No, thanks. A traditional tree is good enough the only choice for us.
