Yesterday was my son’s 16th birthday. I feel old!
The years go by so quickly don’t they? I know it is cliche to say that, but really the years do seem to quickly past us by.
My son’s a young man.
Where is my sweet little boy who sang “The wheels on the bus go round and round” with me on his way to pre-school?
Where is the little boy that use to play in the rain with his sister?
Just last week he went to his father and asked him to borrow a razor. Surely he can’t be shaving?
I knew it was going to happen sooner or later, but um could someone rewind the clock?
It feels like just yesterday I was watching him give his grade eight valedictorian speech and now he’s half way through grade 10.
It’s hard to believe he’ll soon be driving a car.
Sitting here I’m reminded of the story “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. When my son was a little boy I use to read it to him before he went to sleep.
“I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
As long as I’m living
my baby you’ll be.”
He may be growing into a fine young man, but he’ll always be my baby boy.
My son is here somewhere amongst the “sweet 16 birthday balloon bouquet” that’s he holding.
He is a bright young man, that is highly self motivated. He also has a wonderful sense of humor. I know I’m bragging here, but he’s made me proud and I’m delighted to see what a fine young man he’s become.
Happy birthday Son.
