Obviously area drivers still haven’t got the message about not talking or texting on cellphones when they’re behind the wheel. Ontario’s ban on hand-held devices while driving took effect in Ontario on Oct. 26, 2009. Police were suppose to start issuing tickets on Feb. 1, 2010, according to the Ontario government.
I wonder just how many drivers the local city police ticket a day for talking or texting on the cell phone while driving , as I continue to see a number of drivers still texting while at the wheel.
Yesterday while stopped at a stop light I happened to glance over and their is a young woman about to turn into the mall texting on her cell phone.
What could she have to say that was so important that she couldn’t wait until she was pulled over and parked at the mall to say it.
I shouted out my window, “You do know that texting on your cell phone is illegal.” She put down her cell phone, turned up her music and ignored me.
Using a cell phone while driving is an irresponsible choice. People need to wake up and start being more responsible on the roads.
What do you think?
