Is that your picture spam

August 9th, 2010 by Rose DesRochers · 5 Comments

There is a new email spam making it rounds. Today alone I received 4 emails from women stating that they found my picture on Facebook and they wished to share their photos with me.

The subject line of the email varies from “good profile on Facebook” to “is that your picture.”

Seeing how the email came to an email address I don’t use anymore or is not associated with Facebook in any way I knew it was spam. I also knew it was spam, because I am a woman and unless Aidan, Alana, Aneedla and Addie are lesbians I don’t think they would be emailing me with offers of seeing their photos.

I just noticed all four of these girls have names beginning with A. Maybe tomorrow the spammers will start on the letter B.

Remember not to reply to spam messages. Replying to spam will result in a higher volume of spam.

I’m gathering this is a new take on the old Russian mail order bride spam one use to receive.

Have you received any emails like this?

If you liked this post, why not buy me a coffee?

Not yet. I’ve gotten friend requests and messages from people I don’t know–usually from Africa. (which I ignore, because I have to know people to have them on my FB)

I been getting those for a few years now at a rate of about 2 a week. They’ll usually lead you to a porn site if you follow the links.

One of the new ones I am getting now are going through my contact form. They state they are from Australia, or Canada, or some other country, and say they’d like to purchase some products from my site. Problem is, I don’t sell products.

They then ask for info on how I accept payments, and what are my rates.

I still have yet to figure this one out.

I’m one of those folks who if the spammer is silly enough to supply a working contact, I’ll reply and try yanking their chain a bit. So far, none of em has taken the bait.

The ones I receive include no links in them.

No, haven’t gotten this particular spam.
But I must admit that comment spam has a certain entertainment value; think I’ll blog about it.
