Personal Branding Tip- Get your Twitter name before someone else does
Recently I went to sign up on Twitter with my website’s name TodaysWoman only to find that someone else had already taken that name. When I checked out the account I saw that only a single tweet had been made with that account. How frustrating.
What does Twitter do about inactive accounts?
If someone is using your trademarked name you can contact Twitter with proof of Trademark. If you do not have a trademark, you can consider selecting an available variation for your use on Twitter. Add numbers or abbreviations. That’s unfortunately what I had to do.
Reporting a Twitter Squatter
If the Twitter account you want has nothing but spam links you can report the account to Twitter via their ‘Submit a Request‘ form.
Secure your Twitter name
Even if you have no plans on using Twitter, you should secure your personal name, business name and your blogs name as a Twitter URL.
The last thing you want is someone out there twittering with your name.
Have you secured your Twitter name yet?
To see if your name is available simply type it the following: twitter.com/yourdesiredname
If you found this article useful, please consider tweeting it.
